not yet :/ and I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but given his condition I think he's unlikely to be back anytime soon, although I really hope I'm wrong

the boys have been on a good run of episodes lately, though, and I think the pod is still a very fun listen, but it just isn't the same without Matt

I need his startlingly coherent anger right now. This shit in Rafah is bearing heavy today

[–] joaomarrom@hexbear.net 28 points 5 months ago

he's always been a legitimately interesting thinker, a guy who has just the right combination of a ton of historical and academic knowledge and internet brain poisoning to filter one through the other in unique ways

[–] GeorgeZBush@hexbear.net 19 points 5 months ago

I've been missing him ever since October. The genocide pretty much started right after he had his stroke. His analysis is sorely missed.

Honestly, even if his condition has a rapid recovery, he also has an infant daughter that I'm sure he wants to put more time into that than just podcasting. He was always adamant that podcasting is for loser weirdos and he was embarrassed to tell people what he did.

iirc, after it happened Will said they'd already been preparing for Matt to take paternity leave.

[–] Hexamerous@hexbear.net 6 points 5 months ago

Good. Hope he's thoroughly Attentive-Dad-pilled and prioritizes his family and health. There's a lifetime of hot takes and media slop for us piggies to consume already.

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 14 points 5 months ago

Very proud of our big mad boy for holding his nose and giving us slop anyway

I’m glad they started to bring on Alex on the regular. I enjoyed him on their Twitch channel back when I actually watched it and the man’s just as funny as I remember.

[–] MineDayOff@hexbear.net 10 points 5 months ago

Alex cracks me the hell up

A title of a recent episode referenced midwestern oafs and I got excited for a minute thinking Matt was back, but no. It was just called that cause they were dunking on fetterman. sicko-wistful

[–] SSJ2Marx@hexbear.net 17 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I can't imagine any title for Matt's return ep other than "Return of the King".

[–] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 10 points 5 months ago

The Christman Rises

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 14 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Isn't Fetterman from Pennsylvania? I'm not that good on amerikkka geography, but I don't think that's the Midwest.

[–] CrispyFern@hexbear.net 19 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Its an edge case. East Pennsylvania is east coast and western Pennsylvania is midwest imo.

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 17 points 5 months ago

And everything in between is the deep south

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 8 points 5 months ago

Accurate. Pennsylvania is oddly Midwestern-coded. Some dude from Wisconsin or Indiana could move there with minimal culture shock.

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Why even care? You still internalize the "U.S is the American E.U" concept? lmayo

Where is virgil texas now? Recently just saw his name pop up lol, wondering where he went/what he does now? : cushvlog

I think bro is still living off of patreon money, but I’m curious if anyone knows what ended up happening?

Some replies

he tragically died trying to charge his samsung galaxy s8

---

He has a degree from Cornel and he was a comedy writer for a long time prior to Chapo- that’s how he met Felix and Mullen- so presumably just some version of that

---

CW: Will bashing.

Take this with a grain of salt, but the red scare sub psychos claimed he just lives a normal life in nyc. Goes to clubs and stuff. I think it’s mostly an online disappearance. At the same time I feel like someone would’ve snapped a pic of him by now.

That’s what I’m saying, I feel like I would’ve seen pictures or something lmao. Like it’s not like he turned into a neat. I mean after those allegations maybe he did.

That’s the thing though. If he changed his style, got contacts, and cut his hair how many people would recognize him? It’s not like Will where he has a distinctly weird face that would stand out to people

---

i have a pet theory that he lives in suburban central florida

Oh so he went to hell

[–] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 27 points 5 months ago

It’s not like Will where he has a distinctly weird face

capybara-theorist

[–] Huldra@hexbear.net 18 points 5 months ago

Not even saying this in a mean way but Virgil is like way more distinctive looking than Will, no idea what that comment is talking about.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 15 points 5 months ago

He discovered the Anti-Life Equation and the combined forces of the Justice Leagues of multiple Earth's had to force him into the Source Wall

[–] joaomarrom@hexbear.net 13 points 5 months ago

too busy giving guided tours of hell

[–] newmou@hexbear.net 13 points 5 months ago

Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in some time

[–] pumpchilienthusiast@hexbear.net 12 points 5 months ago

he’s been on the toilet this whole time

[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 8 points 5 months ago

busy working on the 4th impact

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 1 points 5 months ago

Living off of his mom's money from her acting career. You may have heard of her, Alexis.

[–] Red_sun_in_the_sky@lemmy.ml 1 points 5 months ago

Died in a beerfire accident

I miss his rendition of the Marxist narrative of history. His obsession with it made him the most relatable of the three.

[–] DEAD_YUCKY@hexbear.net 5 points 5 months ago

PERSONALLY I'M WORRIED HE'LL NEVER BE THE SAME. THAT CAN HAPPEN AFTER A STROKE

[–] Red_sun_in_the_sky@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 months ago

I mean matt had a serious health problem. And I don't mind someone just taking indefinite time off in those circumstances (especially if they got the means to it). Like I also don't expect matt to come back to start doing podcasts or whatever. That's on his volition and time.
