On brand, but I guess SpaceX has no path to profitability (go figure), so Starlink has to launch thousands of microsatellites every year cause their orbit is so low that they burn up like right away

I didn't really have high expectations for them of course but they are way below the bar of what even Tesla brings to the table.

SpaceX works because the US is happy to privatize and sell NASA off piecemeal. Its been propped up by federal money since its inception.

Wasting Earth's finite supply of rocket fuel on mindless consumption rather than solving the mysteries of the universe is a special kind of failure on capitalism's part.

Not to mention cluttering our orbit with even more useless junk, making it that much harder for actual scientific endeavors to get into space

The main practical application I've seen for starlink is to use it to operate cruise missiles/drones in remote parts of the world

Surely they could do that with satellites that don't immediately burn up?

I only support climate pledge friendly cruise missiles

I'm pretty sure they could, this is just using the toys they have now while they last

Starlink being a system of orbital mines meant to create issues for nations with competent space programs
