As we have seen a rise of toxic behavior we have decided that it would be time for some rules. We would love other ideas too and feel free to discuss it here.

Also we are thinking about, to put in an Automoderation tool that could help us a lot. Because its currently not easy for us to scan every new comments and reports are rare currently. We want your opinons on that too, because its important to us that this community is based on the people here.

The shortlist that we have currently as idea for the Rules:

  • Be Kind to each other
  • No Hate speech
  • Dont harass people
  • No Racism, sexism and any other discrimination
  • Dont attack other people just because they have differnt opinions (Stay on Topic)
  • Do not double post

paywalled, but slightly interesting just from the highlights. Proposes restriction on building size in zoning laws.

Ian Brossat, a former Paris councillor and now a senator representing the French Communist party, called for SUVs to be banned in Paris. “This is not the first incident of its kind, and the dangerous nature of SUVs has already been pointed out on several occasions. We owe it to this young man to realise the scale of the problem and draw all the consequences,” Brossat told the Nouvel Obs.

A driver who ran over a cyclist following an altercation in central Paris has been charged with murder in a case that shocked the capital.

The 52-year-old driver of the SUV is accused of having deliberately targeted the cyclist, who was named as Paul Varry, 27.

According to witnesses, the driver, trying to make progress on the congested road, steered his car onto the adjacent cycling path for about 200 metres (650 feet), where he drove over the cyclist's foot, prosecutors said.

Varry, the cyclist, banged his fist on the bonnet of the car to alert the driver, who backed up at first. Varry then stood in front of the car expressing his anger at the driver, who started driving towards him.

-_-...

An autopsy showed that Varry's lethal injuries had been caused by the car.

No joke !

CCTV footage showed the vehicle rising once when the left front tyre rolled over the body, and then again when the back tyre went over.

A test for alcohol and drugs came back negative.

The man's lawyer, Franck Cohen, told AFP that his client "has no explanation for what happened".

lol, good defense.

Hey now look at that 👇

A judge will now rule whether he should be held in custody ahead of trial.

-_-

You wanna commit murder ?!

Forget about gun, just by a big shitty car.

Society will forgive you faster.

Fuck cars forever

City councillor says the project is a low-cost effort to add some greenery. Others say it takes away already limited parking space in the Plateau.

The general public seems to be missing the point of the curb extensions as a traffic calming initiative with the added benefits of greenery. Instead focusing on the removal of parking spaces, and not on the increased visibility and lower vehicle speeds these types of installation promote.

So I often come here, even though I oppose the idea of saying "fuck cars". And yes, I do know it's not completely literal. However, I understand the logic.

With that being said, many people are using cars to be delivery contractors. It's not a necessary utility, but it is useful and is used by the vast majority of (I'll assume) 1st world countries. If vehicle use is reduced, what do you think would be a good strategy to keep this industry going? Yes, bicycles can still be used, but it would take more time, which would raise prices (capitalism). And another obvious solution would be to just do away with it and just go to restaurants. Do you have any opinions beyond those two that solutions I've already presented?

Hoo said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

"It's not like the government is forcing you to buy a car!"

If you live in a city with parking minimums, yes they fucking are.

Transport Minister Eric Abetz says there had been an "overwhelmingly negative" reaction from businesses on the street and shoppers who use existing parking spaces which would have been affected by the trial.

Good on the local goverment for going ahead anyway, and this bit

Every time they do an improvement or make it safer there is more and more people riding," she said.
