It's amazing how much time you can kill when you're constantly at doctors appointments all week.

Doctors appointments? Not for any negative reasons, I hope?

YOU'RE awesome!

Then we get The Webslinger (with one of the most iconic screen portrayals of the Green Goblin before the actor unexpectedly dies), and finally The Webslinger Rises.

I see what you did there. Very suave!

You've certainly done an outstanding job in the comments department. Not bad for someone who's only been here for 6 months!

At first it was pretty close, with the comments always being slightly ahead, but I decided I wanted them to coincide.

And this is my 1,000th Lemmy comment!

This is mostly me just typing into the void, but I noticed that my 1,000th post was coming up and decided to do something to commemorate it.

I first joined Lemmy in Janurary 2021, before the June 2023 craze. Lemmy was a much different place back then, practically a ghost town. Eventually, I only used Lemmy for a few months, then reluctantly went back to lurking Reddit.

Fast forward to June 2023, with Reddit announcing their new API changes. People were furious, and you all decided that the best course of action was to move to an open-source, federated Reddit alternative. You all chose wisely.

It took a while, but very soon, Lemmy became (mostly) what Reddit lost, and it's all thanks to you guys! A lot has happened in the past 14 months, with me starting my weekly "disc market share" reports on !homevideo@feddit.uk and me somehow becoming one of the co-moderators of !movies@lemm.ee. So many posts, cross-posts, so many comments, and upvotes.

And now, I've reached my 1,000th Lemmy post. I never imagined that Lemmy would grow to become the second-most popular ActivityPub service! Thanks to the Lemmy devs and all the contributors and users that make this possible!

They use sheet music.

As stated in previous threads, there are lots of reasons why DVDs are still popular today:

  • Unawareness of, or indifference to, DVDs' subpar video/audio quality.
  • For most people, DVDs "just work".
  • Studios and manufacturers did a poor job of educating the public about the different formats.
  • Streaming/digital is too convenient for the public to consider physical media.
  • People are unable/unwilling to upgrade their tech.
  • DVDs are cheaper and more ubiquitous than Blu-rays and 4K UHD discs.

I haven't seen the live-action movie, so I can't say.

Chapter I seems to mostly follow the beats of the graphic novel, with some minor dialogue changes to make the movie flow better. It remains to be seen if Chapter II will include the giant squid, and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be included.

It's a new 1:1 animated adaptation of the graphic novel, split into two parts.
