I love being hit on by gay men. I can actually tell it’s happening.

Right?! This right here.

I was once yelled at by a friend of a girl for "ignoring her advances." I kid you not, the "advances" consisted of her walking up to me at a party, saying "hey, aren't you in my math class?" (To which I answered in the affirmative) and "well, um, I guess I'll see you there Monday!"

How the fuck was I supposed to know that was an attempt at flirting?

The older gay guy at work? "You're gorgeous. Ever consider dating a man?"

Society has reinforced that women should be passive, and even after much progress on that front in general, somehow this still applies in some people's minds.

I would guess.

No biggie though, depends what you personality traits you yourself are looking for, if being proactive is one of them, then I guess you haven't missed out 😅

And if you weren't interested and the friend is yelling at you angrily, that's mega questionable. Last I checked, no one is obligated to be interested romantically in anyone else...

As a mostly straight dude who does not score high on conventional physical attractiveness I encourage absolutely everyone independent of their gender to hit on me. Being told/signaled that I am attractive is always welcome.

Just don't blatantly ignore boundaries like physical touch without explicit consent. That too applies completely independent of gender.

Man if I ever get comments on my appearance it goes to my head and I cant think straight for days.

Thankfully that's only happened like twice.

[–] kungen@feddit.nu 38 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I cant think straight for days.

Temporarily homosexual?

[–] prenatal_confusion@feddit.org 15 points 1 week ago

That's how they get you.

[–] JayleneSlide@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

[–] Sc00ter@lemm.ee 23 points 1 week ago (2 children)

You too remember when that girl told you that you had good, healthy finger nails in 2012?

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

No, in my case I was told I smelled really good

[–] DillyDaily@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Pretty sure I still catch myself smiling over the girl in highschool 18 years ago that said she was jealous because I had really long and pretty eyelashes.

I'm sure you're aware but I think it needs to be said more; but I think that most women would love to pay men compliments on their appearance, but unfortunately, it sometimes leads to weird, obsessive, totally inappropriate behaviour from said men and so that scares a lot of women off.

We, as a society, should try to discourage men from reading too much into a purely platonic compliment so that women feel more free to give men compliments without fear of super awkward and/or scary situations.

I used to provide security for a club that held a lot of queer dance parties. It's pretty flattering to be hit on by gay guys. They'll give you honest compliments that most women won't.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 41 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They'll give you ~~honest~~ compliments that most women won't.

;_;

[–] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

wait, are you saying women don't give you complements or that gays don't give honest ones?

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And you think I'm slimy

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm a straight dude, and I would be Don Juan if as many women found me attractive as gay dudes have.

I've only been hit on once by gay men and it was a case of mistaken identity. It was at a halloween party in 2004 and I was dressed as an Abu Ghraib detainee from Iraq, mostly naked wearing just a black hood, a dog collar and leash around my neck, and skin colored underwear with a stuffed dog attached as if it was biting my crotch. Nobody really got the costume - they just assumed it was some sort of fetish thing.

I went to a gay bar with my gay friends from work last week. I had 5 compliments on my beard. It felt so good.

[–] TheOctonaut@mander.xyz 24 points 1 week ago

How is your wife doing by the way

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 49 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Had one recent tenant straight up tell me within the first few days of renting, for absolutely no reason whatsoever, "I hate faggots".

I just stared at him and replied, "You're just mad because they don't hit on you"

He was also recently removed from the property.

He was barely 19, and just started university.

Good luck in life, bro.

Aubrey Plaza femboy confirmed????

[–] flamingo_pinyata@sopuli.xyz 31 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Often I wish I was attracted to men. Gay guys seem to find me attractive, unlike (both straight and gay) women

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

To be fair, gay women don't find men attractive in general.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

And the men who do attract us tend to really hate the features that cause that

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh hey, I see you’ve met the guy who keeps aggressively refusing to take my friends’ nos for an answer

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 8 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Should I give that show another try?

I remember really enjoying it when it was first airing, but I fell off cuz my living situation got all messed up and I think it’s one of those where I’d have to start over from S1E1.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

What's this from? It's revolting.

[–] CrazyLikeGollum@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I think it's Legion; a series based on an X-Men character named Legion, who is Charles Xavier's neglected schizophrenic son, but because of licensing issues they couldn't include most X-Men characters and as a result they created a story that doesn't really feel like any other superhero thing and is instead very weird and very trippy.

I haven't watched it since it's original run and don't remember much more than that, but I remember liking it quite a bit. I might rewatch it soon.
