I've never been less excited for a line up

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think Avowed is the only thing I'm kinda excited for and that's more of a "This sounds kinda promising" than "Oh shit I can't wait!"

[–] Jaeger86@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Like the only one I want to play is doom but I'm going to wait for that to go on sale just like the others. And idk if it's exclusive but that just means I'm either playing it on my steam deck or ps5

[–] ampersandrew@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Honestly, you could do far worse than this. There's some stuff in here that looks awesome.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 2 months ago

Basically I'm mildly interested in the back end of 25 and that's about it. Although I've never been a diablo player so perhaps I'm not the best person to ask.

Even if I was interested in playing call of duty which I'm not I can get that on PC. In fact it would be a better experience on PC the console version is always frame rate limited.

Truly, a lineup worthy of all these Billions of dollars spent in acquisitions and thousands of lives fucked with layoffs.

[–] simple@lemm.ee 22 points 2 months ago

They really snuck in the starfield DLC in there huh.

Microsoft's first party lineup has been a joke this generation but it seems all their acquisitions are finally paying off, there's a lot of good stuff there that I'm interested in - Avowed and Fable especially. Ara also looks good since Civ 7 is still far away.

Christ that's a lotta IP in the hands of one company.

[–] Banichan@dormi.zone 17 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Diablo IV DLC isn't a game 😂

[–] NewNewAccount@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Nor is Shattered Space, Starfield’s DLC.

[–] vikingtons@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Starfield isn't a game regardless of the dlc

I’m most excited for Avowed, but it could end up being a stinker (unless the delay actually helps the game). The Fable trailer didn’t do enough to get me particularly interested in it.

[–] ampersandrew@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Obsidian's got a rock solid track record, and The Outer Worlds was great, so I think the odds are good on Avowed.

[–] miau@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 2 months ago

While I think Obsidian is pretty awesome I was disappointed with the outer worlds. Pentiment had a really interesting story though.

[–] LostWanderer@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 2 months ago

I played The Outer Worlds; it was great story wise. I’m merely worried as delays have often been a sign that a game is flawed and needs a lot of work that will happen after launch.

I'm pumped for the new Fable. Also the new Doom game looks pretty badass; I'm excited to try the gun that uses crushed skulls as ammo.

[–] 18_24_61_b_17_17_4@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (2 children)

This is my first time hearing about the new DOOM game. Is it in the same style as DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal?

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

It's basically a "pre-threequel," taking place before Doom (2016)

[–] Maestro@fedia.io 2 points 2 months ago

Looks like it from the trailers

[–] lorty@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 months ago

Do we even know anything about the game other than the fact it's getting made?

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago (7 children)

The first two are awful for a console. Why would you want to play wow or an RTS with a controller?

[–] miau@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 2 months ago

Because its fun even if the input method isnt perfect. Specially so for casual gamers. Both ports for age of empires play really well on console and I suppose age of mythology will be just as great.

[–] Ilflish@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

MMOs surprisingly have a strong controller play base mainly thanks to FFXIV. Considering it's WoW's strongest competitor, a controller layout is a solid idea

[–] aStonedSanta@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

I prefer ffxiv with controller. They really nailed the experience.

[–] ampersandrew@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I hear good things about what they did for AoE2 on controller, and the genre was long overdue for someone to solve that problem. I've got some hand and wrist issues these days after working at a computer for so many years, and I'll always prefer a controller when possible.

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I mean, besides FFXIV’s famous layout, I think it’s not so unreasonable to attach a keyboard to a console for things like chat or the game interface. A few Xbox games even do just that.

Of course, no game can require a keyboard plugged in to play. But given the age of Guitar Hero attachments, a few extras make sense.

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago

Keyboards need a desktop though, which isn't really common for most console locations.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 1 points 2 months ago

Same for Microsoft flight simulator. Why the hell are they putting that on a console?

[–] Mako_Bunny@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago

FFXIV works really well on console and that's a full MMO

[–] Ephera@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Wow, did they really name that game "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle"?

I don't know, if Indiana Jones fans get really excited by that, but to me, it sounds like the guy has to draw on the board during maths class.

[–] ampersandrew@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Well, he's a professor, and we saw him drawing on the board in the trailer...

But this is also from the people who made Wolfenstein: The New Order and New Colossus, so I'm sure this will be great.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 months ago

Can't help but lol at cod. Neat. Same thing as the rest?

[–] Visstix@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Well 4 new IP's. That's something at least. And indiana jones kinda. Am looking forward to that seeing as the last 2 movies sucked balls.... Maybe it's better than them?

[–] callouscomic@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago

Woooo Age of Mythology!

Also Doom Dark Ages looks like fun.
