Sometimes I will go on eBay and find the same computer and buy it for the parts. Looks for one with a dead lcd screen or no motherboard or other such keywords so that you can get it for cheap.

Was going to suggest the same. It’s like finding parts for an old car, just hunt around for non-working ones that can be parts donors.
I have a friend that bought a lenovo laptop from the official website recently.
Laptop froze everytime the charging cable was plugged. After trying different things and contacting the support it went back for maintenance.
When it came back, there is still an issue where it won't boot. Again we have to send it back to repair..
Each repair trip takes at least 15 days.
I'm disappointed as I was the one who recommended the laptop.
