You should look at my post history a little harder. I have posted a lot on Palestine, and very few have centered on Harris. I consider the election choices very painful for anyone who wants to keep Trump out while not supporting an administration which is clearly collaborating in a genocide with Israel. Most likely I will hold my nose and vote for Harris, but I'm not sure yet. If I don't, I would be voting for Jill Stein.

Sorry if you think that my posting reflects "bad faith". I have responded to comments a few times, but generally I'm trying to get useful articles out to the Fediverse. (I also post a lot in Mastodon.)

I did write one long comment on voting for Harris, where I stated that it is a difficult decision for me, because each day I get angrier at the Biden/Harris blank check for Bibi. At the same time, I clearly don't want Trump.

You mean the reaction (downvotes) in the .world instances, right?

I think the contrast reflects the real diversity of opinions, and not lack of stamina. Of course I am disappointed with the downvotes and the hostile comments to anything that might oppose Harris. But the level of discourse in Lemmy is a lot better than Twitter, FB, etc.

So I'm going to keep posting these to as many communities as I can. :-)

The article spells out how high-level US officials knew that the US was involved in war crimes, while US spokespeople keep saying the opposite. It documents the lying and cover-up as well as the crimes themselves. Plus it gives ammunition to those who are going to court to stop US arms to Israel.

So I don't think that it is "nonsense" at all.

Thanks for the reply. The only problem with Drop Site for me is that they are under Substack, and lemmy.world community admins will remove posts because they consider Substack a "blog" site, not a news site. (same for Zeteo).

I'm still struggling with who to vote for in November. I despise Harris but I truly think that Trump will go much farther than any previous President to trash democratic rights and electoral integrity (as much or little as that is).

There are other differences that are important, such as the NLRB - Biden put in basically pro-union admins and staff, and that has had a big effect on some of the recent union organizing victories. Climate change is another big difference, although the Dems are now boasting about how pro-fracking they are.

I know the Democrats and Republicans are both capitalist parties, and I want to see a workers/labor/socialist party to build and vote for. The Greens have a lot of good positions, but I don't know if they are the ones that could initiate a mass left/labor party.

I want the space and rights to fight another day, and Harris would be more advantageous for that. If it wasn't for that, it would be a slam dunk for the Greens.

The genocide in Gaza is clearly the overriding moral issue of our time, and that is another reason why I would like to help punish the Democrats for their disgusting and shameful hypocrisy. (But I also have concerns that I raised above.)

I find the discussion in the Fediverse on this topic to be usually too hostile and one-dimensional. Pro-Harris: "you fucking morons, do you really want Trump?" Anti-Harris: "you gutless swine, you're supporting genocide." Between the 2 sides, I have much more sympathy for the anti-Harris position, but it needs to go beyond moral outrage into some strategy to make fundamental change.

I link to articles from both. I don't know the background to what is happening at the intercept, but it still is publishing a lot of good articles. Seems like drop site and zeteo got some good people from the intercept.

The problem with Zeteo is their paywall. I just posted an article from them, and got many complaints.

I think that the main reason is that he was virtually alone in predicting Hilary Clinton's loss in 2016 and then created a very incisive film about it. He's been a supporter of Bernie Sanders in past campaigns and consistently argues for an orientation towards working-class politics as opposed to prevailing corporate liberalism of the Democrats. Now some would say that supporting the Democrats at all is a betrayal, but I'm staying out of that one for now.

I don't get the point of what you are saying here. Cohen doesn't get "it"? Democracy? What's wrong with what she did and what she said?

[–] pete_link@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

Thanks for the heads-up, I hadn't seen that. Glad to see it was re-categorized as an enhancement. Hopefully, someone will work on it at some point.

Right, I'm hoping that the change might be easy. If it requires major work, then no, it would be very unlikely. Thanks for responding.
