Is there any way to search / browse via authors? For some reason I couldn't find it.

Interesting. Never heard of her before. Will check it out.

Well, I didn't read book 4 when it released (though I did buy it). Wanted to read when the series was complete. So, I haven't read the series since 2017-18, and 6 years is a very long time for my brain to remember stuff. I need a re-read to understand what's happening now.

Well, I don't even remember why the books were so long, but I recall I wasn't bored when reading them. There are some books (like King's) which I feel can be just as good if half of it is taken out. Don't recall feeling like that with these. Though, don't know what I'll think after the re-read.

Hehe, it's a good thing. Means they are really good.

if you are interested in abusive parents and unhealthy family dynamics

Taken out of context, it seems very weird thing to be interested in. 😀

Do share your review when you finish the book.

How are you liking the series? I have seen it recommended many times, but haven't gotten around to getting it yet.

[–] dresden@discuss.online 2 points 1 week ago

That's sad to know. Maybe it also explains why it took so long for him to write it.

I'll read the first Thursday Next book, and if I like it will get the rest of the series. Thanks for the recommendation!

I have read some of Ursula Le Guin's, but I don't think I have read The Dispossessed. Or any book in the Hainish Cycle. Should check them out.

Heh, I can understand. I haven't read Rhythm of War, but want to re-read the whole series to prepare for the 5th book, and it feels pretty daunting.

Heh. I haven't started the series yet. Got to read his Alex Verus first (which I also haven't started yet) 😀

Have heard great things about her, but have yet to read any of her work.

How are you enjoying it? I heard it's a bit different from the movie.

Bought couple of books for my young one, and just read through them.

  • Read Race to the Rescue By Zanib Mian, book 2 of her "Meet the Maliks - Twin Detective". It's kinda like The Wimpy Kid, but about twin Muslim kids and their family.
  • Read The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi. Book 1 of Amulet series. A 9 book series of graphic novels for kids.

What about all of you? What have you been reading or listening lately?

And how many of you are taking part in our Books Bingo? Any progress yet?

Just saw this community on lemm.ee, and since it has no posts and mods, thought I should promote the existing bullet journal community !bulletjournal@discuss.online

It has a bit more people than here, but they are lurker like us, so there isn't much content, but if enough of us are in one place, maybe one day some of us will start posting. 😀

So, do join !bulletjournal@discuss.online and share your bujo!

Reading Three Days to Never by Tim Powers. The premise is pretty interesting, can't wait to see where he takes it.

As mentioned last week, @JaymesRS@literature.cafe and @misericordiae@literature.cafe are working on something related to Bingo card for books.

Keep your eyes peeled, just one week (or so) to go.

Also, welcome @JaymesRS@literature.cafe as a newly minted mod of this community!

Now to topic at hand, what have you been reading or listening lately?

Didn't get time to read at all this week, so still at the same place as last week.

Some of you may remember the post about Bingo card a little while back? Well, @JaymesRS@literature.cafe and @misericordiae@literature.cafe are cooking something up, which we will unveil in upcoming weeks.

Stay tuned!

Without further ado, what have you been reading or listening lately?

Finished Starsight by Brandon Sanderson. Second book in Cytoverse series. Loved the way the series progressed, though didn't liked the post-ending much. Going to start the novella soon.

Started Three Days to Never by Tim Powers. It's a standalone sci-fi. Don't remember who recommended Tim Powers or when, but he was mentioned in my list, so got couple of his books. I have just started the book, something is happening, but I am not sure what, so no idea what to think about it yet. Let's see how it turns out.

What about all of you? What have you been reading or listening lately?

Still reading Starsight by Brandon Sanderson, second book of Skyward (Cytoverse) series. About half done. It's interesting to get more details about the world.
