Vivaldi (the web browser) is hosting a community talk together with AllThingsTech about "Why does being on the Fediverse matter to us?". You can listen along to it via. https://audon.space/u/@Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net.

They start on the 25th of May, 13:00 EDT / 17:00 UTC.

I think there is one on f-drpid. But using the website as is works great on mobile aswell.

[–] MrCenny@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago

Yeah. It is kinda "lacking" in the terms of reviews. But for each goodreads people that join, the more reviews and books we get, as you can import your goodreads library. And knowing the fediverse, it won't be that long, I hope ;P

Lol, yeah. It can be a little lacking for now, but knowing the fediverse, it won't be long until it also gets populated!

[–] MrCenny@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

Lol yeah. Would be nice. But I'll bet ya we'll make an instance for it whenever it gets made :P

Bookwyrm is specifically made for booksharing and book reviewing. While lemmy is more general. For instance, this is a link to the "a game of thrones book" https://bookwyrm.world/book/8138/s/a-game-of-thrones. Here you have reviews of the book. You can also add that book to your "to read" list aswell.

If you are interested in sharing book recommendations with other, or just manage your books, then bookwyrm is great for that! The .world team also has a bookwyrm instance up and running at bookwyrm.world with a community here on lemmy as well at !bookwyrm@lemmy.world. Read Ruuds original post about it here: https://lemmy.world/post/5904792

If you want to join another bookwyrm instance, then head over to joinbookwyrm.com.

Anyway, it's a great place to find books, share books, and find people with similar interests in books! If there is anything that you feel needs to be improved or changed on the bookwyrm.world instance, then contact me!

EDIT - Mastodon account for the instance: @bookwyrmworld@mastodon.world

Thank you! Everyone is welcome on the server, no matter the instance node 😊. Its nice to hear that you havent seen any griefing! What is your username on minecraft?

My take is that this is way better than expected! This server was originally just a side project for LW, but has become my main focus. Its incredible how much a community can do on their own with limited rules! And I am so happy to see that all the "old school" players still play on the server! We have had minimal griefing, and that is especially above our expectation. Have this server been a Reddit server, then there might have been some more trolls and griefers. What is also fun is that not everyone on the server uses lemmy.world, or lemmy at all!

Ey! Nice one!!

This one is very hidden ;)

This is the map progress near spawn. I went trough and updated the ones nearby spawn. This growth is amazing 😍

Who's house could this be...

If this is correct, and is the exact position i stood in, wow!

Hmm, where can this be?

Since minecraft hates the "#" character in URLs, we need to find an alternative way of giving peeps the matrix invite. And viola! We have a perfect link sharing website called lemmy.world.... hmmm how interesting! Anyways: Here is the link, a 2nd time but this time inside of the post https://matrix.to/#/#minecraft:lemmy.world

This communal farm has really developed fast! There is now bamboo, cocoa beans, wheat, carrots, potatoes, cows, sheep, watermelons & pumpkins! Thank you to everyone that contributed to the farm so far!

As we see more and more bots on Lemmy World every day, it’s about time we publish a set of rules for bots and bot-owners.

So here goes:

  • Bots shall not be used for any kind of advertising.

  • The bot accounts must be clearly marked as a bot. Both in the bio and by marking the account as a bot.

  • The owner of the bot and contact details must be mentioned in the bot’s bio.

  • Bots are only allowed to post in communities they have the explicit permission from the community’s owners to do so.

  • Bots from other instances that post in Lemmy World communities must follow the same rules.

  • Bots shall not just be posting Reddit content.

  • Bots shall not be β€œspammy”, as in multiple posts per minute.

  • Breaking any of these rules will result in a ban for the Bot and, if required, its owner.

  • Commands must use the bots mention as prefix, and not a text prefix like !help

These rules will be updated when needed.

After much finessing and hardship, I finally got oxygen and gravity setup. I had to go trough every corner of my hall to make sure that every block had another block either adjacent to it or diagonally to it. And after a bunch of head-banging against the wall -- tada!

another view For me this did not show up as the post image, so here it is (maybe for a 2nd time)
