Here is a breakdown of everything I did on my bike.

this is similar to the bottom bracket tool I used. I'm not sure what variety of bottom bracket I had, but this tool fit. Just needed a second person or a ratchet strap to hold the tool on without slipping.

How mechanically inclined are you?

I did a mid drive conversion because of the lower centre of gravity and to not have to move the motor's weight as the tire spins. However, rear wheel seems easier and was fairly cheaper the last time I looked (approx 4 years ago). I believe the rear hub comes preinstalled in the wheel, so you'll need to switch over the tire but that is easy.

It was a fairly easy process, hardest part was removing the bottom bracket with only 1 person (tool would slip, ended up using ratchet straps). Took a couple hours of work but I had everything I needed to do the job.

You'll need:

  • battery (likely most expensive part)
  • battery mounting hardware (depends on where you put the battery)
  • motor
  • zap straps to tidy up the cables
  • Allen keys
  • bottom bracket extraction tool (if you go mid drive)

From what I saw, front drive motors were the least desirable as it alters the bike's handling and feel.

In my neck of the woods the motor was ~$400 and battery ~$800 but I went for a large battery.

Czech out those staches, you do Nazi that style anymore!

Does this mean Smaug was a tax auditor? No wonder nobody liked him.

"Oh laws, he coming." - some birb, probably.

But are you dangerous over short distances?

They absolutely did pick the right one.

A cute video I saw from the perspective of a cat living its best life.

So I've realized that in conversations I'll use traditional terms for men as general terms for all genders, both singularly and for groups. I always mean it well, but I've been thinking that it's not as inclusive to women/trans people.

For example I would say:

"What's up guys?" "How's it going man?" "Good job, my dude!” etc.

Replacing these terms with person, people, etc sounds awkward. Y'all works but sounds very southern US (nowhere near where I am located) so it sounds out of place.

So what are some better options?

Edit: thanks for all the answers peoples, I appreciate the honest ones and some of the funny ones.

The simplest approach is to just drop the usage of guys, man, etc. Folks for groups and mate for singular appeal to me when I do want to add one in between friends.

I'm looking for a simple alternative to Splitwise to self host. Currently my partner and I use it to keep track of monthly expenses to ensure there is roughly even spending between us. Doesn't have to be complex, in fact the simpler the better as my partner prefers simple, ready to use tech. It would only need to be accessed locally as we update expenses once or twice a month, and would prefer FOSS to have control over our data.

I thought of having a Spreadsheet that is synced using syncthing between my computer and her phone. This seems simple on my end, but I worry that it would be more complicated for my partner as they primarily would use this on their iphone. Currently on splitwise you can add expenses with only a couple button presses.

Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for an app to help learn the basics of language similar to Duolingo. Something to become conversational to get started.

As the title says, is there a good mobile alternative for excel on fdroid? I found libreoffice but it hasn't worked so far with any spreadsheet I've tried opening.
