I don't know why people use "fishes" when "fish" is a perfectly acceptable term for more than one fish. In this context nobody would have assumed they were only talking about a single fish.

No it comes from taking your money somewhere else. Why would you continue shopping at a place that makes you feel the need to vandalize their property to feel safe?
