"Oh no, a bad word!

Better cross it out so no-one thinks I'm using bad words.

But not all the way, so everyone still knows what the bad word is but also recognises my attempt to save them from seeing a bad word!

I'm such a good person (but also cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž)!"

[โ€“] yoreel@lemmy.zip 29 points 4 days ago

Apparently the reason people started doing this was because the algorithms would recognize the word and demote them on other sites, but a simple strike through or messy crossout would not get the same treatment. If it's dumb but it works, it's not dumb?

Learn algospeek is humans already getting twisted by pretzels.

That said we should have a better way to deal with racial slurs than ostracization.

Because I might have never died before but I used to be a kid and we loved all the no no words. That means probably todays kids are hyperaware of them and I can't think of a better way to perpetuate racist thoughts than to teach their words to all the kids via reverse psychology.

Guess what I'm saying is that I rather the kids learn slurs in a safe space than behind the neighbour's shed and come back preganement with brain racism !

I hate group chats. I engage with people one on one - I can understand one, maybe two persons...

But people? Fuck that. Persons are complex, people are insane

I know someone who died twice. Well, I used to know them, the second time was lethal. First time they managed to survive though, with the help of a hospital full of doctors

[โ€“] SnokenKeekaGuard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 30 points 4 days ago (2 children)

That started off as such a promising joke

Three men walk into a bar on a Tuesday at 1pm. A Welshman, an American, and a Japanese man. They all had severe alchoholism, and would lead very depressing lives with their failing livers over their 40s.

Skill issue, LSD is nontoxic.

[โ€“] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (2 children)

LSD is toxic, but the LD50 is so high that is doesn't pose a risk. They estimate a lethal dose to be 100mg, or like 200x an excellent dose of acid.

Yes, everything is poisonous in stupid high CIA-experiment only dosages.

[โ€“] IMNOTCRAZYINSTITUTION@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

death by too much LSD sounds like a uniquely awful way to go out

[โ€“] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

According to the lab reports it is like a panic attack with fatal tachycardia and hallucinations that encompass your fleeting existence.

sounds about right. I don't like acid personally but I dabble in shrooms once in a blue moon. last year I accidentally took a way stronger dose than I ever had and there was about an hour of feeling something like this,

panic attack with fatal tachycardia and hallucinations that encompass your fleeting existence

except I didn't die of course and once the terror wore off I had a good time. the dose I took was high for me but for a real afficianado it was probably a small one.

I know someone who died twice. He came back and he looked different and didn't remember me. He had the same name though so I'm pretty sure he just forgot he'd died

[โ€“] Jubei_K_08@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Must be hard to die when you haven't died before ๐Ÿฅฒ

[โ€“] JohnWorks@sh.itjust.works 27 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Group chats are the main way I keep in contact with my friends these days

Group chats >>>>> social media

[โ€“] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Wait.....I'm supposed to have friends in 2024?

[โ€“] HK65@sopuli.xyz 9 points 4 days ago

No, having unhealthy parasocial relationships is the way to go.

I am the keeper of my friend circle's groupchat via an XMPP server. It's been really good. We mostly post memes about chopping off bezos head in there until the Amazon suicide bots kill us all in our sleep.

[โ€“] Justas@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 days ago

The one direction IQ in the chat went is down.

[โ€“] yamanii@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Imagine dying, bro just manifest life.

[โ€“] Agent641@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Dying is a lifestyle choice

[โ€“] kamen@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Yeah, I also consider that when it's time to die, it will be my first time.

[โ€“] Lepsea@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Found out that your ex gf favorite boyband member died from lemmyshitpost meme, life is weird

[โ€“] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 points 4 days ago

Mostly coordinating meet ups and people posting pokemon go shit but I don't participate in that side of it.
