I saw the original first, and then recently the hollywood version. The first one is better imho, it's like the difference between the book "I am legend" and the 2007 adaptation. When they hollywoodise things like that it just loses the point I think.

I don't understand why the remake exists. Why would you take something, make it into the same medium (i. e. film from film, not a book or game from film), but worse?
It's like doing a remake of Harry Potter, but with school shootings and even more focus of sports. (I'm of course exaggerating this absurd analogy for comedic effect)
They did it with a vampire one called Let The Right One In a few years ago too. It must make economic sense but I hate the idea people are so put off by subtitles.
There were rumours about a remake of Druk/Another Round too recently which I also find an offensive proposition.
I saw it last night. I thought it was much better than what I anticipated. It does however go in the Hollywood trap and makes it much more friendlier than it needed to be. The original is much, MUCH darker and that is what I love about it, and it don't compromises and it hits you like a fist. But I also liked some additions they made like Ant trying to communicate with Agnes. I also did like the addition at the end, but I have a bit of a issue with it being to understandable, let people make their own mind about what is going on, and that's something that is very hollywood about this movie.
I do think this version was not at all necessary, but money speak as always.
