I recently acquired a used 16U rack on wheels and some shelves for about €30. The rack is very shallow, at only about 460mm of depth, so I'd assume it's actually an audio gear rack, nevertheless it was very cheap so I can't complain.

I'm currently looking at the Inter-Tech IPC 4U-40248, which is 480mm deep and would stick out a tiny bit. I did have a look at the 4U-40240, however my motherboard is just slightly too large.

I'd like 8 hot-swap 3.5" bays, I could however add these later with 5.25" cages seeing as most cases with built in hot-swap bays and back-planes use SFF-8087 or similar plugs. Unless I'm able to use a SFF-8087 -> 4xSATA cable in the "wrong" direction (SFF-8087 at the back-plane -> 4xSATA on my motherboard), I'm doubtful this is possible.

I'm located in the EU so I'll only be buying from within the EU.

Any and all recommendations are highly appreciated!

Yes, reverse breakout cables exist (SFF-8087 -> 4xSATA)
