Cyberpunk Batman would certainly be on trend these days, but it would probably end up as some libertarian both sides slop in the style of the Nolan films. Could be a great opportunity to lean in on the whole "Batman is a terrible billionaire actually" angle with the proper writers though. Maybe have the younger quoting some Marx/Lenin or something to old Bruce.

Talking about libertarian and batman. I am pretty sure in one of those Frank Miller comics, Batman was like this ancap hero (seems like a self-insert tbh) that fought ronald reagan, and he even allied with Green Arrow (who was a communist), because he thought Communists and Anarchists would be allies with Libertarians against the US goverment.

Is that The Dark Knight? Wherein he ends gang violence by beating up one guy in a mud pile

[–] Redcuban1959@hexbear.net 4 points 7 hours ago

I think is that one, or the sequel.

There's a Batman Comic called Batman Year 100. The idea is that it is a comic about Batman from the year 2039 (the 100 year anniversary of Batman). It's set in an even more dystopian police state version of Gotham where police stations wear uniforms like football players and compete against each other to catch criminals on reality TV. One of the neat things is Batman has no money, he has to make all his gadgets on a shoestring budget, like making smoke bombs out of pingpong balls and match heads etc. Neat comic. One of my other favourite things is he puts in fake jagged teeth dentures when he fights up close to look more monstrous.

I liked the concept of that one but I just could not jive with the art. maybe it's part of the vibe a la cruelty squad but it's just offputting
