Oh wait I guess my understanding is outdated, apparently you do need to fill out an application to sign up now, that used to not be the case. Regardless I think he should still fill out an application and sign up, as long as he's not posting reactionary stuff I don't foresee the mods having an issues, and it'd honestly end up being a positive for him to see so many diverse people supporting Palestine, could help eat away those reactionary brainworms!

I mean just have him make an account here, he doesn't need permission to make an account! If he starts posting some seriously reactionary shit, he'll get banned and he can make another account. As long as he avoids saying reactionary shit he'll be fine, and even if he does he just gets banned until he stops doing that or changes his views, it's not a big deal. Have him start posting with us!

Sinwar will forever be a legend. October 7th was one of the most momentous events in Palestinian history, and will be remembered inshallah-script as the beginning of the end for the Zionist entity. Glory to all the martyrs.

Nah I'm talking about before, where people made Kamala brat edits. Charli endorsing is later, much later. Agreed on that though, Charli is alas just a liberal.

Nah I'm ridin with Biden, democracy is too important to vote for anybody else

I really hate that somehow Charli XCX is an "important" part of this election. I love her music but god damn is it strange to see fucking Amy Klobuchar talking about brat autumn. It's like now all of her music, for reasons entirely outside her control, are tainted with this awful slime. Kamala took Track 10 from me and I'll never forgive her.

RIP Ka, unsurpassed in hip hop

Just found out that my favorite hip hop artist Ka, easily one of the best to ever do it, passed away unexpectedly yesterday. He was only in his 50s. Devastating. Dude was a complete legend. Made records in his spare time as a NYC firefighter, perhaps the great writer to ever put his pen to hip hop. A total inspiration for me, somebody who made incredible art not for profit but because he loved it, still holding down a day job and just grinding out some of the greatest records I've ever heard. Seriously, check out some of these bars, his wordplay and rhyme schemes(s) was absolutely insane.

Cops got us under microscopes to make sure we see cells / Know my first vitamin was iron, but I just wanted to beat 12 / Didn't dwell by the sea shore, but was sure to see shells

Learned many lessons from women, the biggest was forgiveness / Impossibly generosity taught me giving is a privilege / Thought for respect had to be the villain of the village / ‘Cause the only ones chillin’ was the ones willing to pillage / Armed for strong-arm and too impatient to plan a heist / And how you handle fights determine if you man or mice

Inherited a ready-made plight / Was too heavy, not many made light / Come from regal people, fell from great height / To track back to royal, had to break night

Some of my favorites by him:

RIP Ka

I'm honestly not sure. It's probably both; the Iranians themselves have made a ton of progress on making missiles cheaper and more advanced for the price, so "support from Iran" is both Hezbollah gets missiles and Iran develops better missile tech to make it easier for Hezbollah to build more missiles.

[–] thethirdgracchi@hexbear.net 54 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I think it's both, but I want to highlight the "more resistance" piece in terms of weaponry. In the 90s rockets and missiles were only owned by very large state actors, and were very expensive. In 2024 you can use drones, relatively advanced drones, and very advanced ballistic missiles for quite cheap. Even non-state actors like Hezbollah have access to a large suite of weaponry that can't really be defended against if used en masse. The nature of warfare itself has changed, and the United States' old "package" of air superiority doesn't mean much these days when it's easy to fire off a pretty advanced rocket and then disappear. That's why they're having such trouble in Yemen, the non-state actors got a lot better and the US has remained the same.

Thankfully Western Marxism: How it was Born, How it Died, How it can be Reborn by Losrudo was just translated into English. Have been wanting to read it for years, as it seems like it's Hexbear's position on Marxism 101. Losurdo is an unmatched thinker, never been disappointed with his work. Description:

Western Marxism: How It Was Born, How It Died, How It Can Be Reborn is a paradigm-shifting book that provides a trenchant critique of the Western left intelligentsia. It reveals how its dominant ideological orientation—characterized by defeatism, utopianism, and anti-communism—is rooted in the political economy of imperialism. Internationally acclaimed theorist Domenico Losurdo thus provides a fresh and challenging perspective on purportedly radical thinkers who have been widely promoted in the imperial core, including those affiliated with the Frankfurt School, French Theory, and operaismo, as well as Hannah Arendt, Giorgio Agamben, Michael Hardt, and Slavoj Žižek, among others. His critique also has wide-reaching implications for trend-setting discourses inspired by this coterie of intellectuals, from postcolonial and decolonial theory to subaltern studies and beyond. Far from being a negative undertaking, however, this book is grounded in the positive project of reigniting anti-imperialist Marxism.
