Seems not bad, a lot of vegan and vegetarian food options with catering I've occasionaly sampled have gotten comparably tasty, too. I'm not a compulsive meat-eater but I'm not on any strictly plant based diets either. We've long known that water and energy inputs for plants are an order of magnitude less than meat for the same output.

"We simply wouldn’t do this if we didn’t believe that it was safe,” said Greg Webb, ADM’s vice president of state-government relation

That's bull-fucking-shit and you know it.

It's just sorted by the percentage of NDP vote descending from left to right. Greens in the conservative area mean that NDP doesn't have as significant of a vote share there, whereas near the centre it is a closer race between greens and NDP. Sorting by Conservative support will show Greens and NDP as one bloc.

Winning, losing, whatever, GO AND VOTE!

A Canadian provincial (state equivalent) election just happened and a number of races have a margin of difference under 200 votes. And though the polls were reasonably correct overall there were several upsets that were more than 10% off from polling like my riding. Campaigning makes a difference.

Get every eligible voter who is sick of Trump to go and cast their ballot. Get every man, woman and person you know out to protect American uteruses, American democracy, American freedom.

If you're feeling risky, dd can do everything you want to but it can also fuck everything up if you make a mistake (so can ignoring warnings on gui programs). So triple check everything (the if= and of= portions in particular) before you run any dd command. Launch a live distribution off a CD or USB to use a disk image maker or dd, don't make images of the operating system disk while it's being used for best results. A couple sample methods:

  • make an image of the entire smaller disk, place it on a third storage disk
  • restore the image from the third disk to the destination disk you want
  • then resize the partitions or add new ones on the second disk using Gparted for the remaining storage space.

The quicker but riskier method is to directly clone the first disk to the second larger disk, then adjusting the second disk using Gparted to add or expand partitions.

Either way it will copy everything from the old disk including windows and root partitions.

Ukraine confirms that explosives produced at Russian explosives factory explode as designed. It's just a special quality testing operation.

A graph representing the frequency of something is called a histogram. That might be the word you are looking for?

Pearson Airport is still like that at the dropoffs and arrivals areas... luckily there is a cell phone waiting lot now where you can hang out until you know your buddy is at the pickup area.

I don't know how many last minute mail in ballots there are, but any mail ins received after Wednesday is still not counted. For some of these races it could possibly make a difference.

The whole point of casinos is to get people to feel like they are one play away from winning big, in perpetuity.

Just put it on the side streets - Doug Ford's gaslighting compromise might work in some cities like Montreal and Vancouver but aren't well suited for Toronto and its suburbs.

People think vice presidential candidate Tim Walz is nice. But is he... too nice? From his dangerously folksy upbringing, to the National Guard, to teaching America's future enemies in China, Tim Walz's "nice" act isn't fooling anyone. This is the Dailyshowography of Tim Walz.

Mmmm. Roasted ham.

Hey everyone, just a reminder in case you hadn't seen it or forgot from months ago, the Canadian official e-petition is at this link as part of the Stopkillinggames.com campaign. Maybe we can get some clarity from our government on what our rights as consumers are when buying access to video games.

Signature collection ends at 9:30am ET/6:30am PT on Thursday 5 Sept 2024.

L'enquête par ISDE Canada sera ouverte jusqu'au 26 septembre 2024.

I figured that right to repair is a topic many of us are interested in. The survey below by ISED Canada, a department of the Government of Canada, is open until September 26, 2024.

Video shared from a Mastodon user.

Some Lemmy user at one point had asked about a "multi-paste" feature, if there was a way to use keyboard shortcuts to display multiple clipboard items and copy/paste them out at will (this user mentioned similar to RTS games they like to play). ~~If someone can find that post, can you notify them and direct them here, please? I'm having trouble locating it but I recollect that it was within the last 3 months.~~ Edit: I found the post!

Somehow this was stuck in my mind when I accidentally pressed a keyboard shortcut, that showed my last 5 copied items. This isn't exactly what the user was looking for but I thought I'd publicize it here.

If you use Fcitx (because you need multi-language input) from the fcitx5 packages, then you may already have installed the clipboard add-on. You can use fcitx with just one keyboard layout. By default, it's activated by Ctrl+semicolon and shows the 5 last entries, but the number can be configured.
