the vegan comm has banned a lot of people who regularly post on this site, as they have a strict "non-vegans not allowed" posting policy. Definitely caught me off guard when it happened to me, particularly because I wasn't arguing with anyone, but instead getting an in-depth explainer on the vegan perspective on work-animals

I wonder if you could get one of the really stupid neolibs like Matt Yglesias to write something about how Israel is offering Lebanon a chance to save their economy, as Lebanon will at some point have to rebuild the parts of it that Israel is blowing up, and for some reason building something, having it blown up and then rebuilding it, can only count as GDP increasing in perpetuity.

See those articles also come out of Denmark every now and then, less so now that Ukraine is visibly losing and our Prime Minister didn't get the job as GenSec of NATO, and they always use the same 3-5 different "retired" officers who teach at the Danish Defense Academy. They're usually so unbounded from reality that I've dubbed the DDA "the greatest bastion of anti-imperialism Denmark has produced in a while", since the shit they say is basically just NAFO-shit with fancier wording.

Regarding Denmark, I think people here as so fucking calvinist that they would actually vote against such a proposal. We've spent too long making fun of Southern Europe and their retirement ages in the 50s for that to ever be a serious consideration up here. If you instead did a poll of Danish people and asked if they specifically would like to retire at age 50, I bet a huge majority would be in favour, but as soon as other people might benefit, I'd worry about the crabs in a bucket mentality.

Denmark likes to pretend that we're better than the Americans, because we aren't quite so insanely selfish, but people here fucking hate to see others get ANYTHING that they perceive as "not deserving". Thats why we have to spend a litteral year arguing about whether prisons should be buying christmas presents for the incarcerated (still mad about how the scumfuck Søren Pape managed to wrestle the entire newscycle for what felt like months with that little sideshow).

Most of the guys I know who are really into warmachines as cool machines like to say that they aren't interested in the weird nationalism, but when you point out that nonwhite countries have found ways to incapacitate the western wunderwaffen, they somehow begin sounding like Cecil Rhodes and talk about needing to pacify the restless natives, or how the West needs to stop being such (slur) and just "teach them a lesson".

Yeah but Biden has always been way more Pro israel than israel has been pro Biden. When Biden was arguing with Menachem Begin about Israeli attacks on lebanon, Begin thought Biden was insane.

I think "Hang Mandela" was the unofficial slogan of the Conservative Youth Party or whatever they are called. I think they also argued a lot with the main party about how much the UK should be supporting Rhodesia in it's civil war, if I remember my weird tories correctly.

I thought all the Starmer corruption was at the scale of "he received two shitty suits from a billionaire, and he and his party all received tickets to see Taylor Swift in London"

I honestly kind of liked that DR didn't treat this as anything serious when the story first broke. Since it's the same shit that he normally says, only this time it's written in whatever that Microsoft product that allows you to make flyers is called, it doesn't feel newsworthy to me. Also big fan of his "Stand with Israel because no one else in this country will do it" that he constantly uploads to his social media, while our fascist-lite SocDem is using the opening speech of the parliament to commemorate the real victims of the last year, which are the 200 danish jews that somehow all of our politics have to revolve around.

It's extremely funny how in 2019 after Corbyn ate shit and Boris Johnson got awarded the mandate of heaven, there was an article posted on here/the chapo subreddit that postulated that the conservatives in the UK probably could be called the most effective political party in the world, in the sense that they're REALLY good at getting enough tories elected to form a government. Like, over the UK's history, an obscene percentage of it has been governed by the tories.

And now 5 years later, the tories have refused to do litterally anything about the problems facing the people of britain, and have allowed themselves to be taken over by the most rabid part of their electoral base, while said base is also moving away from the party and towards the actual existing fascism party.

Calling the youth lazy and ignorant is a time-honored tradition. Doesn't even matter what country you're in, every place has it. My family members in North Africa all think that the "youngins" are the main reason why government bureaucracy moves at a glacial pace, and not the fact that most of the workforce is made up of unpaid interns who are 8 years out of university and slowly having the life sucked out of them.
