Congrats man, you rock!

  • Keeping my reading habit throughout the past decade.
  • Choosing the "wise" path of Computer Science instead of Physics as my degree: I absolutely love math and physics but sadly in my country research and teaching are poorly financed and paid. I don't love CS but I enjoy it enough and also the pay is very good even for a fresh graduate.
  • Learning about finances and investing. I don't expect to FIRE but at least I think I'm on the good path

I'll be more than happy for more people to migrate to linux (or mac, but many people just can't afford it) so MS doesn't have such a monopoly on the OS space.

And some will probably give Linux a try. I only stopped pirating Windows because it got free, but I have no intention to pay a subscription to be able to use my fucking PC.

Increasing the echo chambers of conspiracy theorists, extremist and with that influencing things like elections seems quite the impact to me. All these mega corporations could’ve tried to limit these things, but probably that would’ve looked bad on their balance sheets.

Add to this the insane amount of data harvesting they do on their users and in general just making every damn platform worse from year to year while only looking for ever more profits.

Increasing “value” for shareholders in spite of user experience should be a reason to be sent to the guillotine.

In al seriousness now, being profitable is ok, but these companies try to be ever more profitable while not giving a flying fuck about the impact they have.

My feeling also. I really doubt so many people were eager to create an account and engage on a totally new and untested platform that has nothing novel really.

True, but if many of the content creators are among the ones who left then it will have a sizeable effect at least in the short term. Already some subreddits are unrecognisable (many in a funny way).

Am I not reading the numbers right or Reddit lost the most traffic of them? I wouldn't exactly call it insignificant (although it's not that much either)

I disagree: better to kill the evil in its infancy, rather than let it spread and hope it goes away by its own.

I'm not sure how the language setting works when replying but afaik just leave it on english and everything should be fine. I'm sure there are tools for windows to automagically detect text in photos, maybe even Google has something to offer.

Not sure how you do this, but one way to speedup things is for example using something like iOS' scan text from image feature. Of course, it needs some additional formatting but at least you don't have to type all of the text.
