Hoping this could maybe help convince my friends who are just looking for a chromium alternative and won't even consider firefox

Give them time with the full modern web experience. I know someone I've been trying to get to switch for years whose computer died right around the cutoff, so the new Chrome they installed on their new computer had no real ad blockers via being v3 only, and she switched within a week.

The problem is they apparently really value having cross device syncing between desktop and phone, and dislike Firefox on mobile a bit due to speed. Idk I mean yeah I think chromium browsers on android are technically faster (seems to me at least) but with no ads it's way better

I gave up in Firefox Sync an year ago as it doesn't work reliably for me. The sent tab function, the main reason I use sync, tabs are frequently delayed (as in over a minute) or straight up not working. Now I uses SimpleX group for my cross device communications.

Maybe it is improved but I'm too lazy to try.
