For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

"Whether you hate me, like me or are indifferent, do you want the best car, or do you not want the best car?" [Apartheid Manchild] told audiences at an event in November.

Well, for starters I don't want a car at all. I'd rather use public transit. You know, an actually effective means of reducing emissions.

If I were in the market, yes, I would want the best car. Which is why I'd never buy a Tesla. I'd buy an XPeng or a BYD or the like.

Save RGV, a local environmental nonprofit group, had filed a lawsuit in federal court against SpaceX for its alleged release of untreated industrial waste water.

Under the Clean Water Act, the suit seeks to halt the “recurring” and “unpermitted discharges of untreated industrial wastewater from the deluge system at the SpaceX Boca Chica Launch Site into waters of the United States.”

SpaceX maintains that it never operated the deluge system without the state or federal go-ahead. The EPA did notify SpaceX on March 13, however, that it violated the Clean Water Act when deploying the deluge system.

SpaceX was ordered to comply with federal regulations but did not face an EPA fine at the time.

Except the bill never does come due, does it? Apartheid Manchild has been peddling bullshit for decades, proven bullshit, often proven while he was peddling it and he's never called out on it by anybody influential.

The Australian eSafety commissioner took the matter to the Federal Court after X Corp challenged a $610,500 fine in September 2023.

The fine stemmed from an infringement notice issued by eSafety because X Corp had not provided information about how it was meeting the basic online safety expectations in relation to child sexual exploitation and abuse material and activity on Twitter.

In a 30-second hearing at the Federal Court in Melbourne on Friday, Justice Michael Wheelahan dismissed the proceeding and order X Corp to pay eSafety’s legal costs.

So the judge agreed that Musk is a windbag who nobody should believe. What a great victory.

Cards Against Humanity sued SpaceX yesterday, alleging that Elon Musk's firm illegally took over a plot of land on the US/Mexico border that the party-game company bought in 2017 in an attempt to stymie then-President Trump's attempt to build a wall.

"As part of CAH's 2017 holiday campaign, while Donald Trump was President, CAH created a supporter-funded campaign to take a stand against the building of a Border Wall," said the lawsuit filed in Cameron County District Court in Texas. Cards Against Humanity says it received $15 donations from 150,000 people and used part of that money to buy "a plot of vacant land in Cameron County based upon CAH's promise to 'make it as time-consuming and expensive as possible for Trump to build his wall.'"
